Hi Alastair, thanks for your mails, all of them. The challenge has been very interesting, I mean, for me off course, and I can imagine the same opinions and feelings for most of the participants. Unfortunately, so far, I couldn´t go ahead from Task 6. The good new is that I went on vacation for two weeks, but, to a place with non (or very little) Internet connection. I hope I could complete all tasks. In advance, I checked all the task`s subjects and found them very challenging. Thanks again. Kind regards Darío

I liked the idea of challenge . Unfortunately I didn’t have enough time to participate in all the tasks. The problem was that I spent some time Iistening to other participants recordings and than I had no time for my own. I didn’t manage to listen and comment to all of them . I wish we could talk to each another, something like conversations club. It was nice hearing voices of other participants .

As always, I found this challenge interesting and enjoyable. My diction isn't too bad, but I used to feel embarrassed when I recorded my voice. After doing it for three weeks, I'm getting used to it, which is an important step. The challenge doesn't take up much time, and it was nice to chat with the other participants in a relaxed atmosphere. I'm really impressed by Alastair's work, who provided detailed personal feedback at the end with tips for improving our speaking skills. This challenge is a must!

Video transcript: Hello. Hello. Thank you so much for the challenge. I absolutely enjoyed it and loved it, although I haven't finished it yet, entirely due to the lack of time. But really, it was difficult and I learned a lot about myself as well. I didn't know that I'm gonna have so many difficulties with it. So it's good to. It's good to. It was good to be part of it. I'll definitely go back to the challenges as well. Listen to my English. And I want to say thank you for all the podcasts that you prepare for us. I learned a lot about the world, but also I learned new expressions in English and new words. So bravo. Thank you so much.

Video transcript: Hi Alastair. Thank you very much for this challenge. All tasks you prepared for us were super interesting, helpful and also useful as always. At the same time, I need to say that all these tasks were very fun. As we got to the end of this challenge, I felt felt like speaking more and more without preparation. I know that I made a lot of mistakes but I kept speaking also. Now I am not a super confident with my speaking, but I still talking. I must say that you are one of the three people who help me and still helping with my speaking. I am looking forward to your personal assessment. Have a nice evening. Bye Bye.

Video transcript: Hi everyone. It feels really weird to leave such a comment by showing you my face. So, as for the speaking challenge, I have to tell you that I felt quite weird from the very beginning. But then things became rather better. I felt more at ease. But since I've been feeling kind of strange for so many years, I cannot tell you that I've overcome such a feeling. Anyways, as for the challenge, I have to tell you that maybe one of the best things was to find out that there are so many other speakers like me who feel the need to kind of catch up, to become more fluent, more confident. And by doing such such challenges, it gets easier over time. Okay, so thank you everyone. Thank you for having been with me in such a boat. And I still feel feel strange. But that's me. So thank you. Take care. Bye. Bye.

Hi! Characters are interesting, the voices are captivating. The stories aren't too long. The whole thing is well-designed. The lessons are interesting and presented in a practical, fun, and pragmatic way. This approach offers a refreshing change from the usual way of tackling grammar topics, making it more engaging. I have a question: is there a pedagogical reason for having only one voice per text? Thanks again for this course.

Hi Alastair, I am completely in love not only with the story but also with the method of studying English: the narrative with different voices, your explanations of grammar and vocabulary, and the study pack PDF, which is so valuable to me because I love reading. It helps me analyze and better understand the story. The plot is so fascinating. Right now, I’m very intrigued by what the future holds for Miki, his friends, and his son. Recently, I started studying the grammar in the videos. I’m doing this part at my own pace, and I have a schedule to follow until I finish. I recommend this course and everything related to your podcast to my partners at Hey Lady and my family.

Hi Alastair, fantastic and interesting history, super explanation about conditionals, and all grammar in digestive way. In my opinion, the only think I didn’t like a lot was the voices of readers, sometimes they sound set, with false emotion . But many thanks for everything, like always , super history based in our real world. Very interesting . Thanks Carmen

I’m Italian and I started listening to this podcast a year ago on the recommendation of my English teacher, whom I had hired to help me prepare for the Cambridge C1 exam. At the time, I really needed to improve my listening skills, so she suggested three different podcasts. I gave them all a try, but right from the start, I was completely hooked on English Learning for Curious Minds. The episode length is just right, it’s entertaining, the topics cover a wide range of subjects, and the storytelling is thoroughly engaging. After six months I passed my exam, so I could have stopped listening to Alastair, but I’m still here! In fact, I even bought a membership because I had run out of free episodes and felt the urge to listen to the members-only ones. I listen to it every single day. I play it during my daily fit walking routine and it makes the time fly by. When I first started, I understood about 80% of the content, whereas now I’m at 99%. On top of that, having access to the transcripts allows me to practice my reading skills and build my vocabulary whenever I want. Thank you Alastair, a small chunk of my C1 certificate is definitely thanks to you!

I completed a 30 for 30 Challenge for the first time. I was actually quite nervous about whether I would get it. I couldn't imagine what was ahead. But the experience was great. Every day brought a new question, and I became a bit more familiar with working things out. The questions were inspiring, and the group was very supportive. Over time, a sense of 'together we get it' began to emerge. Best of all, you not only learned a lot of English, but you also met some really nice people from all over the world. It was exciting to be connected through one language. We all shared one common goal: to improve our English in a fun and successful way. I loved it.

Learning English began as a challenge and turned into a hobby. My level is about B2 based on the tests I took. However, I have a significant weakness: listening is quite challenging for me. That's why I decided to follow the Leonardo English Podcast. What motivated me to become a member was the chance to take on challenges. The most recent one, the '30 for 30 Challenge', was incredibly enjoyable. Each morning, I checked my phone to see what the task of the day was. It was often easy, though sometimes a bit tricky, but still doable. This established a routine of writing, as I tried to arrange my words into clear English with the help of Fix my English, which is quite useful. What surprised me the most, though, was the friendly atmosphere in the community. Each participant shared interesting comments, and we really got to know each other well. The only problem is that I feel like I'm missing something every morning...

I am Fernando, and I am a Physical Education teacher at a primary school. English came into my life by chance, as I have to teach my subject in English. Therefore, I had to take some training courses, but this also helped me integrate English into my life as a way to keep my mind active, learn another language, and connect with people from other countries. I think I have an intermediate level, but with some practise I hope to increase my skills, especially in speaking (I still feel a bit stuck). I have really enjoyed the challenge, and I have gained confidence throughout it. I feel more capable of expressing my thoughts and reflections. It has also helped me open my mind, share experiences and ideas, and learn from my classmates. The best part has been the people I have met. They are friendly and approachable, and I have been surprised by both their level of English and their cultural knowledge. I think this is a valuable activity because it allows people to discuss different topics without being judged. Therefore, nobody should be afraid to participate and share their ideas, as everyone in this challenge is respectful and approachable. Once again, thanks to Alastair for giving us this wonderful opportunity.

Throughout this challenge, I've made more progress than I ever imagined. You won't regret joining in. Jóhanna

Hello to all Curious Minds! I participated twice in the 30-day writing challenge. I really enjoyed it! Here are several reasons : First and foremost, THE GROUP! The participants were so genuine and supportive! It was a safe and inspiring space to learn, and share my innermost thoughts without fear. I felt like I have made new friends from all over the world! 🎉 Secondly, I improved my writing. The more I wrote, the quicker my ideas came to me. Now, when I talk to my husband, I hesitate less and my pronunciation has improved. I learned many new expressions and vocabulary. Every day, in this challenge, I spent many hours reading and responding to comments. Not because it was obligatory, but because I had plenty of time since I retired. I think that 30 minutes for each task is enough. Thank you Alastair for this opportunity and your good leadership! 🌸 Thank you to all the Curious members who joined the challenge with me. You have been and continue to be a great source of inspiration for me. Linda from Québec, Canada 🇨🇦

Hi everyone, If you’re wondering, “Should I take on this challenge?” My answer is: yes. I agree — IT IS A CHALLENGE, because you’ll probably be doing something new, something you’ve never done before, and maybe with a bit of apprehension. But I’m sure you’ve already faced bigger challenges in your life — and you did them all on your own. Here, you’ll be in a group. Each of us encourages the others, because we are all learners, aware of our weaknesses, and after 30 days our exchanges truly enrich us. And then A SURPRISE happens: a bond is created between us that goes beyond language.

I learned about English for curious minds in 2023 and was so glad that I did. I loved the content of the podcast; it's what got me hooked in the first place, it's kind of my source of information of different things happened or happening in the world. The episodes are good length to delve into a topic and if I am interested enough I would do more research on my own. I also got to review words and phrases that I didn't use often and new ones. The English learning resources were very helpful, I even used the podcasts and their practice materials to tutor a friend even though I am still learning English continuously myself. :) But it's such a great resource that I couldn't help but recommend to people I know. Thank you, Alastair, for creating these awesome podcasts.

I never before had the idea to use AI for English learning. I think it’s very useful for me. If I see an interesting story, I write it down in my own words. The KI always makes a little compliment. It corrects me. With this correction in mind, I speak this short story into AI. For me, that is extremely helpful and motivating. If I would be younger, I would use much more of your propositions. Never the less, it’s a new great progress for me.

Hi Alistair,  I had lots of thoughts and  feelings  during the last 4 weeks, but I try to  keep it short. AI challenge  was a double challenge  for me.  Learning English and working with AI (I never used it before) is really demanding for me.  But I did it, and the best moment of every task was always at the end  writing... Done....  By following your instructions  every  week,  I realized  how to use AI as a  perfect addition to  my individual  English training.  Getting to know the right prompts,   I can create my own repetition  exercises.  So I improved my English skills and my AI skills  at  the same time.  I never would have tried it by myself, it never was my thing.  Thank you for giving me the kick to   start  this new option and this perfect supplement for my  English learning journey. Now I need to fine-tune my writing and this AI challenge has given me a new tool to systematically improve my English level. Thanks to Alastair for the very practical and motivating approach when designing the AI challenge subjects. It has been very helpful

Now ChatGPT is clearer to me. I feel more in control, and I am now better at knowing which commands to give. That is a relief. I feel more confident in my writing.

I often use tools like DeepL Write, but your method is much better for spotting and correcting errors.

The best was when I finally found the English Learning For Curious Minds podcast. Since then, it's a lot easier to stick with listening to English podcasts, as I always look forward to listening to another episode. Not only can I level up my English in many ways with it, but it's the most fascinating podcast I've ever found. I just love listening to it, and I've already recommended it to a lot of my friends. :)

I’ve been following Leonardo English for a few years now, and it has become one of my favourite ways to improve my English. With a membership you get access to all episodes with transcripts and the study packs, which makes a big difference. By listening regularly, reading the transcripts, and quickly going through the study materials, I’ve genuinely increased my vocabulary and confidence. I also appreciate the wide range of topics — from history and science to politics and culture. The episodes are interesting, well-researched, and entertaining. Alastair, the creator, is always quick, friendly, and helpful to answer any questions! I don’t mean to repeat his own words, but it’s true: you improve your English while learning something new at the same time. The 25–30 minute length is perfect for everyday life. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to learn English in an engaging and effective way.

English for Curious Minds is one of the best podcasts for learning English I’ve ever found. So far I’ve listened to dozens of episodes — and not only that my English is improving, but somehow, my curiosity just keeps growing! Alastair himself, so it seems, is such a curious mind himself, and listening to his podcast is always so engaging – you get to know a lot about history, culture, politics, and so much more. It is all delivered in a very smart, engaging way, making the important mission of studying a language a fun and a happy one.

The most I like is the interaction between us and Alastair. I never feel alone, he always is there very active. At first I think that I never will be able to understand his accent, I felt sad honestly because I love all the Alastair’s podcast but now is became more easy and enjoyable. I’m very happy to be here, I’m thinking stay here for ever. I’m thrilled with this challenge, I love it. Thanks Alastair

Interesting and varied topics. There is no endless and useless "blablabla" from an unprepared podcaster who likes hearing his own voice. The "language spotlight" with the examples is great to enrich my vocabulary. I love listening to Leonardo English while doing housework.

I have so much wonderful things to say about Leonardo English…. English Learning for curious minds deserves its tittle! The podcast I listened to the first time was about Ozempic. That’s was enough to get me hooked. You can learn so much about multiple fields “at the same time as improving your English”😜. I subscribed to pack pro and I’m so happy, in this way I can enjoy all the challenges, most of them without extra charge. Even if lots of episodes can be listened to without subscription. It is definitely better to subscribe to have the transcripts and the quizzes after the podcast. And last but not least, “Sir” Alastair Budge is incredibly responsive. As a subscriber none of my emails have gone unanswered. I’m not the kind of person who gives opinion but Leonardo English deserves that a large audience knows what a helpful assistance it is in learning English with its amazing mindset. Marie
